Mitchell Stecker is the Director of Chapel Music and Citadel
Carillonneur at The Citadel: The Millitary College of South Carolina in
Charleston, SC. He began singing fasola music
in Micanopy, Florida while an undergraduate at UF in nearby Gainesville. Since
that time, Mitchell has become an avid singer, composer, and researcher of fasola music, its traditions, and its
history; earlier this year, he completed his Masters in Musicology with a
thesis entitled “‘If I can reach the charming sound, I’ll tune my harp again’: The
Fasola Tunebook Publication Renaissance”. The
Psalmist’s Harp is Mitchell’s first compilation, though he is also working on other, similar projects for later release.
